Christoffel Janse
The following is from the Woodward-Waychoff family

He is recognized by the Sons and Daughters of America's First Families, the National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, the National Society Daughters of the American Colonists, the National Society of Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America, and "The Compendium of American Genealogy" -- more than any other member of our family tree!
Changed his name to Wyckoff on immigrating -- means "town court"
[magistrate]. Claeson is also seen as Clausen. The Wyckoff House and Association of Brooklyn, NY 11210 (718-529-5400) can provide detailed information on him and the whole family history. They write: "We are cousins of Pieter Claesen Wyckoff, who arrived in New Netherlands (New York) on March 4, 1637 on the Dutch ship Rensselaerswyck. When ice on the Hudson River finally melted, the ship sailed on to Fort Orange (now Albany) landing on April 7, 1637, and soon after Pieter Claesen began his apprenticeship as a farmer. He later settled in Brooklyn."
