Grandpa was an onion farmer. "In the fall of 1932, he and grandma drove out to Los Angeles with some hope of living in California. Unfortunately, the impact of the 1929 recession finally reached the small town of Hudson, IN. and the bank had to close. He, along with other stock holders, had to cover the losses.
Thus ended that dream."
